Born on the first day of the year in Delhi the Capital of India, the Ghazal maestro,
Mr. Satish Babbar hails from Parmar Gharana of Himachal Pradesh. The maestro, with a rich
resonant voice and melodious singing owns an endearing aura of charm and a multifacet personality.
He has been performing since last 35 years and has regaled and enthralled the audience across the
world through his soulful and unique style of singing.
His musical talent surfaced at a very young age by the great support of his father Mr. S.L. Babbar
who is a retired industrialist now. He had a brief spell of formal training under Late Shri M.L. Sonik,
but his innate love for music has invested his performance with great promise - a promise that brooked
no limits.
As Ghazals, being his forte, Mr. Satish Babbar has tremendous emotional appeal and aesthetic sense
and has an inherent aptitude for emotionally stirring music and philosophical poetry. His compositions
are based on traditional ragas and he prefers to sing compositions of Contemporary Poets and not only
of better-known Masters such as Ghalib and Mir.

Other Projects
Apart from Ghazals he has been extensively involved in singing, directing and producing classical music,
film songs, ballets, geets, bhajans etc. and has also acted in few films and T.V. Serials. He has the
distinction of being given a special T.V. Coverage by B.B.C. during his tour to England and has
always received a thunderous response for his privileged performances across the world. His biography
has been included by the American Biographical Institute in the very famous book named
“The Contemporary Who’s Who” in 2004 and has been honored by them as a Consulting Editor of the
above said book. Also he has been nominated by the American Biographical Institute as MAN OF THE
YEAR, 2004 and MAN OF THE YEAR, 2005. Recently he was chosen as one of the jury members for the screening
of Music category for Doordarshan Annual Awards, 2005 by Prasar Bharti (Broadcasting Corporation of India),
Directorate General Doordarshan, India. Empanelled as an OUTSTANDING ARTIST OF INDIA by Indian Council for
Cultural Relations which is related to the External Affair Ministry.
