Kavalam Sreekumar was the recipient of First Prize in Classical Vocal in the University Youth Festival for 5 Years. Performed Music Concert in the Music Festivals organized by Kendra Sangeeth Natak Akademi, New Delhi. Participated in the Sangeethotsav held at Bhopal on Sept 30th, 2001 under the joint auspices of Central Sangit Natak Akademi and Usthad Allaudin Khan Sangeet Akademi, Bhopal and performed Sopana Sangeeth. Worked first in the field of abhinaya music with special application to Mohini Attam Dance form. Composed several songs for Mohiniyattam dance form, some of which are in the repertoire of Smt. Kanak Rele and Smt.Bharathi Sivaji, famous Mohini Attam dancers.

Brought out many audio cassettes of devotional Music like Ramayana and other scriptures like Devi Mahatmyam, Lalitha Sahasranamam etc

Awards and other Recognitions:
Won Akashvani (All India Radio) Annual Award for the best musical feature produced in 1989 & 1990 (“Gurussakshath Param Brahma” on Adi Sankaracharya and “Parayipetta Panthirukulam” – national Integration Feature).Visited Russia and Japan in connection with the festival of India. Visited London, Paris, Singapore and performed concerts.
Honored by Malliyur Thirumeni, a doyen in the field of Bhagavatha Sapthaham in Kerala and received a title by name “Ramakadha Shukan” from him in the year 1998. Presenting a very popular music programme entitled “Ragolsavam” in the Kairali Channel T.V. Visited Japan, Russia, London, Paris, Singapore etc and performed concerts.
Visited Europe and Gulf recently, in November, 2004 and performed classical music concerts.
Joined as Programme Executive in All India Radio in the year 1985. Presently working as Assistant Station Director of All India Radio, Mumbai.
