How to Win Friends and Influence People in the Music Business
by Gudipudi Srikanth
People who say "It's better to give than to receive" are flat out lying. It's always better to be on the receiving end of any transaction (unless you're receiving insults or incoming fire). Keep that sentiment in mind as you build relationships in the music business.

Stringed Music Instrument: Violin - Part 1
by Gudipudi Srikanth
The violin is a stringed musical instrument comprising four strings tuned a fifth apart. It is the smallest and highest-tuned member of the violin family of string instruments, which also includes the viola, cello and double bass. The lowest string (and hence the lowest note) is the G just below middle C, then in ascending order D, A and E.
Sheet music for a violin almost always uses the G clef (treble clef).
The violin has some similarities to the earlier viol family of instruments.
A person who plays violin is called a violinist.
A person who makes or repairs stringed instruments is a luthier.
A common or less formal name for the violin is the fiddle.

Making Remixes Work
by matt w
I recently had the pleasure of taking part in a little "contest" with a few friends. the basic idea was that each person would remix a song recently written by one of the group of people, and we would all release the tracks together, once a month. sounds like fun, but unfortunately things did not turn out the way they were planned. In this space I would like to write about some of the ethics of remixing and being remixed, so as to keep others out of the same situation I became involved in.

Basic Difference between MIDI and MP3
by Gudipudi Srikanth
MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. In MIDI, the music sequence is recorded as a series of numbers which explain how the music is to be played back. The advantage is that MIDI files are very small, but the sound is totally dependent on the output device ie the sound card etc.
